Today at school...

I usually try not to post something about school, and yet now 2 post in a row are about school! Oh well, I just had to share a story from today! Working with 4 and 5 year olds allows for many stories. Most of the stories I do not even remember by the time I get home, much less remember to write them down. So the story...

Background
We are learning the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty this week. Today, we got a letter from "The King" asking the students to create a new and improved Humpty Dumpty with their parents at home and bring it to school on Friday to share with the class. I was going to have a king come to class on Friday for the kids to present to, but could not figure out how to do that, so I am going to take pics of the students and their Humpty Dumpty to "mail" to the king. (One of the great thing about teaching PreK is the amount of pretending that can be done and they still will go along with it).

The Story
As I opened the scroll with the note from the King I said "Oh this looks like it is from someone important like a king." The face of one little girl lit up as she proclaimed loudly "It is from God. It is from Jesus." As was thinking how to respond because I was not expecting this, she explained "You know, Jesus, he is the King." So, I said well yes, but this note is from another king. This note is from the king of the horses and men in Humpty Dumpty." She seemed to accept that answer and we went on reading the letter and talking about our new Humpty Dumptys.

In years to come I am sure when we get to Humpty Dumpty, I will always think of "The King" story!
