Texans on TV

The Tarleton Texan football TV will be on national TV this Thursday at 7:00 on CBS College Sports. Joey has been very busy the last week or two planning and getting everything ready for the lights, cameras, and the action!

If you watch, you will probably not see either one of us because Joey will be hard at work and I will be trying to help him in the press box. You can just think about that we were at the game and that Joey did a lot of work getting ready for the TV crew. It is definitely the exciting event of our week!

Family Divided, Family United

Not A&M and Tech or Tech and Texas, but ACU and Tarleton divides this family!

This weekend we went to Abilene for the Tarleton vs. ACU football game. The family is divided because everyone in Joey's family graduated and cheers for ACU and Jason is the public announcer for the ACU games. Then of course, Joey and I cheer for Tarleton because Joey works there and they give us a paycheck! The game turned out better for the ACU side. They won 37 to 17.

The family is united because we got to spend time with both of our families! We not only got to see family that lives close, Bill and Donna, Granny, Jason, Jami, Jaden, Jaxon, Rick and Kellye, and Gran. We also got to see my brother Zach who lives in San Francisco! Since it was ACU's Homecoming, he came home to Texas to see family and friends! Joey and I have not seen him since December, so it was good to get to see him and spend sometime with him. It would have been even better if Alison would have been able to come too!

Hello Big Tex!

Sunday afternoon and evening we said our Hello to Big Tex at the State Fair. We actually were going to see a musical, The Color Purple, at Music Hall. Our tickets to the musical got us in to the fair for free, so we took advantage and spent a few hours at the fair.

We were among probably the millions of people who tried Chicken Fried Bacon, the best taste award winner in the Fried Fair Food Contest. We shared one order and thought it was very tasty! I also had the fair staple of a Fletcher's Corn Dog while Joey had a grilled hamburger. We were going to go all out with the fried food and have a funnel cake, but everyone else had the same idea and the line was very long so we decided maybe next year!

We also walked through and saw the latest in cars, saw the Domino Man topple about 3,000 dominoes, saw beautiful gardens, heard some interesting bagpipe rock music, saw some huge pumpkins carved into amazing jack-o-lanterns, and saw part of the lighted parade before going to The Color Purple.

PS to Andra's comment: The musical was good! It was very lively music - some gospels, some jazz and some blues (that's what the Playbill said anyway)! I did not know the story line. Joey was amazed that some how I have a Bachelor's degree and never had to read any of the book The Color Purple. It was a well written musical so I followed the story. Anyway, to answer your question - It was good!

Introducing...

Frannie the Frog is our new pet that is living in the front flowerbed. We first saw Frannie about two weeks ago when we were watering the flowerbed. She was perched in the corner.

Then this evening, Dad, Mom, Joey and I were all outside working in the flowerbed and planting flowers. When Dad spotted Fannie under the dirt. Fannie did not like all the digging and leaped to another part of the flowerbed, closer to where I was working. I was not crazy about having her in my area.

The more we talked about it we thought that maybe Frannie the Frog is really Tommy the Toad. We could not recall the difference between a frog and a toad, so I guess we will say our pet is Frannie the Frog!

Well... my sister, Jami, decided to tag me in the meme chain... So I had to rearrange the folders as she did because I didn't think any of you wanted to see a mug shot of our football coaches.

So here is a pick I took during the East Central football game while I was getting totally drenched. The kicker is our two-time Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, Garrett Lindholm in action. The grey spots would be the rain. I forgot to take anything

to keep me from getting wet, or too wet.

So guess what: I was still wet when I got home (A four hour ride)! It's true. And I went back upstairs to the pressbox in the middle of the second quarter and we waited a while after the game before we left, too. Needless to say, I was a little soaked.

I tag David, even though he blogs on Kristi's, but hey Jami did it to me, so I forward that duty on as well (as Leslye said, back to where it began).

A Meme

Kristi tagged me in a Meme for a picture from the 6th folder of picture files and the 6th picture in the folder. My 6th folder is pictures of our house and moving and painting days. The sixth picture was actually a picture of the house before we bought it with a few of the previous owners belongings. I did not think that was something that I should post, so I changed the assignment to use the picture that was the sixth from the bottom in the folder. So here it is...


This picture of Jaxon was from the weekend that the West family came to help us move and unpack. After a day of unpacking and helping, Jaden, Jaxon, and my dad spent the evening planting us some new flowers in our flowerbed. They finished by moving some of the extra dirt from the flowerbed to some holes in the grass. So, my meme picture is of Jaxon with his little shovel moving dirt at our new house. Family Fun!

This weekend I had all kinds of family fun...from the soccer game in the previous post to a 30th Birthday Party for Heather to spending time with aunts, uncles, cousins and baby cousins! It was so much fun!

On Saturday, Mom, Dad, and I went to Lubbock and met all of mom's side of the family at 50 Yard Line for Heather's 30th Birthday Celebration! We had so much fun eating and visiting together. After we ate, we went to Charlie and Amy's house to open presents and to play! We had a great time watching Abbye and Kenna play together. The 2 girls were in the middle of the floor with everyone else sitting in a circle around them! The girls definately had everyone's attention! Courtney has a great video of the girls talking to each other on her Courtney's Corner. Kenna really likes to take Abbye's paci and try it out! She did it several times over the weekend! Heahter has a great video of it on her blog, Heather's Headlines.

It was such a fun time had by all! I put together a slideshow of the pictures I took this weekend!

Not a Soccer Mom, a Soccer Aunt!

This morning, I got to go to Jaden's soccer game and was a soccer aunt! It was fun to watch the kids all run to get the ball and kick it to the right goal! Jaden had quite the fan club: Jami, Jaxon, Nana and Pawpaw (Bill and Donna), Granny, Memaw (Jason's mom), Kellye, and me! Jason is the green team coach, and I think he did as much if not more running than the kids!

It was fun to watch, fun that they won and fun to see Jaden score. (Well, I think he did. It is a little hard to tell because they all huddle around the ball!)

Homecoming

This week is Santo Homecoming. The whole school PreK-12th grade participates in homecoming week activities. Everyday has been a different dress up day from pajama day to super hero day (that was a fun one, costumes that had to be unzipped all the way in order to be able to go to the bathroom!) Anyway, tomorrow will conclude it all with the Homecoming Parade and the Homecoming Pep Rally. Thanks to two very sweet kids and two very sweet mom's, all the girls in the morning class, my assistant Ana, and I will all have a homecoming mum. The mums are so cute, complete with every one's names spelled out in stickers! I just thought it was so cute that I had to share! Happy Friday!
