Hospital Pictures

I'm trying to play blog catch-up!  I am learning that there is so much more to blog about with a sweet baby boy!  We are so happy that so many of our friends and family were able to come see us in the hospital and to meet Keaton!

Keaton is a big fan of the pacifier.  He likes to flip the blue part up on his noes.

Hello world... my name is Keaton!

Hello world, on Saturday night, my mommy, Leslye, started having some pretty good contractions. After my daddy, Joey, got home from the football game, those contractions started getting more frequent and more intense.

After taking a bath (as directed by the nurses at the hospital when daddy called), mommy started to feel good enough that both got some time to sleep.

Sunday morning was more of the same, and after a bath and then more pain, mommy said it was time to go see if I can find this place you all call the world.

Well, around 12:30 p.m., we all got to the hospital and they checked us into the delivery suite.

Several hours passed by and multiple family members passed through, but I just wasn't ready to join the fun yet.

Here is mommy and daddy getting ready for me to join the family.

Around 3 a.m., Dr. P decided I wasn't going to come on my own, so they were going to have to do a C-Section. Daddy sent out a text message to the family that said, "In the words of the Texas Rangers - It's Time! And we have a ticket to Section C!" (I know, he thinks he is funny.)

Here is mommy getting ready for the fun that's about to begin (isn't she beautiful!?!):

Daddy got all dressed out in duds and got to sit in the operating room. He even watched me being born, and then he got to carry me to the nursery:

And here I am world! I came in at 4:40 a.m. weighing 9 lbs, 6 oz. and was 20 1/2" long.
Here I am being weighed:
Here's the group of family members anxiously awaiting my coming (I'm so excited to get to know all of them):
The nurse checked my heart and lungs:
Then another nurse gave me a bath:
Then I got my footprints done:

I wish I could say I was rocking to some cool tunes, but really, I was just getting a hearing test (And I passed my first test ever - one of what will probably be thousands in my lifetime, huh?)

As I said before, daddy got to go with me to the nursery and helped clean me up and played with me and kept me company. Then he got to hold me for a really long time while mommy was in recovery.

Here's my family, aren't we a doozy?

Thanks for all who came and called and texted my mommy and daddy the last few weeks and days and hours. We look forward to a long life of God and fun and happiness and love.

Oh, and thanks daddy for helping me type this.

Family of Three

Well, here we are October 2nd, Keaton's due date and not a family of three yet.  Still waiting on his arrival. Today Gran, Starkye, and Rick (granddad name to be determined) made their arrival. Gran brought a pumpkin family of three to represent our soon to be family of three.
Joey Pumpkin, Leslye Pumpkin (notice the pearls) and Little Keaton Pumpkin (notice the little blue pacifiers).
Aren't they so cute!  A lovely addition to the fall decorations!

Pictures of Keaton and his mommy

So I have been trying to get my wife to let me take pregnancy pictures of her, and for some reason or another, it has been put off. But today, after church, we went to my office and took some in my photo studio. Isn't she beautiful?

Both of us fielded many different "when is she due?" questions this morning at church. Leslye said that I should have just announced it this morning when I got up there to lead singing so we wouldn't have had to answer the question so many times, but as you can see in these pics, she looks about ready to "pop."

I know we are just days away (no, I don't know how many, and yes, I wish I did), but after what we have been through since last September, I am willing to wait and let him show up when he does. But I can tell you this, I daily pray that I am the father God wants me to be. I pray I am the example to Keaton that I have had from my Grandad and dad as well as the many other "dads" I have had over the years, yes, that includes you Rick. I pray that Leslye and I bring him up in a loving, Christian home where he learns who God is, what God has done and what God has continued to do for us. I hope that this love for God extends down to his children and grandchildren like it has in our families for generations.

I also pray he loves his grandparents and great-grandparents and aunts and uncles like we do. That he looks up to them for stability and Christian examples and that he truly feels proud to be a member of our whole family (and we are many - on both sides).

I am not ashamed to tell you I get emotional, and I am fairly sure that whenever it is Keaton decides to show his face in this world, I will cry.

I will cry because God has given us a special and precious gift. I will cry because I love Keaton's mother so much and thank her for going through the aches and pains to bring my son into the world. I will cry because I know Keaton has angels up above looking down to watch over him. I will cry because God has entrusted me to be the spiritual leader of this family that has now increased by one (something I take very, very seriously). I will cry because the face I hold before me will be my son - something I have waited a long time for as I have been uncle to many (even outside of my sister's kids) but until now, father to none.

I will cry. I will cry because I love God. I will cry because I love Keaton's mommy. I will cry because...

I will love Keaton Reese Roberts until I can no longer love at all.

Whenever you are ready Keaton, mommy and daddy (and a whole host of others too numerous to list) are ready, too.

School Baby Shower

Thursday the teachers at school had a diaper shower for me and Keaton.  It was a lot of fun!  We got a lot of diapers, wipes and other great things!

Starkye and Nana made it for the shower.

The cake was so cute and so yummy!  We forgot to get a close up before it got cut.

Mrs. Longley, my principal, and Serena serving punch and cake.

When I got home Joey and I unpacked everything from the bags!

We organized all the diapers by size and Joey stacked them all in the top of the closet.  Look at all those diapers and wipes!  The top of the closet is full of diapers!

I am so blessed to work with wonderful and generous people!  Now we have more goodies to be ready for Keaton's arrival!

Keaton News!

So, if you haven't heard the news - Keaton is predicted to be a big baby!  We had a sonogram today and his belly measured in the 94th percentile and his head measured in the 97th percentile.  His head measurement is probably not accurate because he is so low that she could not get a good measurement of his head.  The head measurement was more of the shadow of his head, or something like that.  Anyway, with his measurements it is estimated that he is about 7 lbs. 5 oz.  The doctor think he is really probably not quite that big because of the inaccurate head measurement.  The doctor is hoping that I will go into labor naturally by or at 39 weeks, which is within the next two weeks.  Which means a September baby instead of an October baby!  However, I am still not dialated any.  She said if I haven't gone into labor at the 39th week visit then we would make a plan.

We were hoping to have some pictures to share from the sonogram, but the only think Keaton really was showing today was that he is definately all boy! So for our little man's privacy, I won't post that picture!  :)  We didn't even get to see his face because he is so low and then way he was turned.  So, guess we will have to wait a bit longer!

Keaton's Shower

This past Sunday was Keaton's shower.  We were so blessed by the family and friends that came to the shower and all the great gifts!  It was a lot of fun and we are still working on getting everything in its place.

Abbye gave them a test run too!  I think this tub of toys got the Kenna and Abbye Seal of Approval.
