Wedding Cake

We followed the true tradition of eating some of the top layer of our wedding cake on our anniversary. - I'm a Crenshaw, tradition is what we do! :) - Anyway, so we got the cake from Gran's freezer the weekend before our anniversary when we were in Snyder. Then we ate it June 23rd. The cake was wonderful at the wedding and was still good, still moist. The icing was okay but not as great as before.

So then we went to Snyder and we were talking about it, and Jami (Joey's sister) said she also had some cake from our wedding in her freezer, so we brought it home. Well tonight while watching Ace of Cakes, I said we should eat some of the cake. This was the top of the groom's cake - the red velvet with cream cheese middle and chocolate icing. It was really good at the wedding (a big hit!) and it was still really good! We both commented on how good it was!

So I feel whatever the tradition or saying is for eating the cake a year later....we get it double since we had some of the bride's cake and groom's cake!

So...how did your cake taste a year later??

Our cake was pretty good a year later. The cake was actually really good but the icing was just okay. When we thawed the cake, we found that it had been frozen on one of the plates from the hotel, so we have an extra souvenir!

Our wedding cake was pretty good on our first anniversary as well. Whoever wrapped it for us, did such a good job we almost didn't get into it to eat it a year later.

So glad I remembered I had that groom's cake in my freezer so you could have double the cake. :-)

Our cake was scrumptious - the icing - not so great but it was fun to eat it and nice for mom for us to get it out of her freezer I am sure.
