The Story of Keaton's Name

So as you may have noticed, Joey has been doing the blog posting lately.  Between end of school, my ACU courses, and naps, blogging has not been on the top of my list.  After being asked this weekend the story of Keaton's name, I decided to post it, mainly for a historical reference for me and for those who are interested.

As many of you know, we have had a girl's name picked out for a long time, before we were even married.  Many boy names have been on the list of possibilities, but never one that we both loved.  So before the sonogram, we went to Weatherford to buy clothes for the reveal party.  One the way home we started discussing boy names because I really wanted a boy name picked out before the sonogram, so if it was a boy we would have a name.  We had decided that we wanted a "K" name because "K" is the letter between "J" and "L" and Kaylye, the girl name started with a "K".  So we began to name every "K" boy name that we could think of.  Every name that I mentioned Joey didn't like, and every name he mentioned I didn't like.  Until Joey came up with Keaton.  We both liked it but spent several days writing it down and saying it out loud to make sure we loved it!  For three days after the sonogram when we found out the baby was a boy all we talked about was his name!  Some how we have always been stuck on "R" middle names. It started when we were thinking about names that would have the same initials as Joey's name, but when we decided not to do that we still liked the "R" middle names we came up with.  One of the "R" middle names that we have always like was Reese.  We liked the way Keaton Reese sounded together, so we had a name!

And the name is...

After some discussion, we finally have a name for our new blessing-to-be little bundle of boy...

His name will be... Keaton Reese Roberts.

I know, we love it, too!

Introducing the latest pics of Keaton taken last week.

Here is his hand:

Here is his cute little foot:

Here is his face (his mouth is on the left, then his nose, his two eyes, and then his forehead - yes, he has a big head!):

This next picture must be because he was tired after spending all day at Pre-K with mommy, nice yawn, huh? (this time the yawning mouth is on the right, then nose to the left followed by the eyes and the forehead):

We are excited about welcoming our little bundle... Mr. Keaton Reese Roberts.

Praise God for a great report on the sonogram that looked over the whole anatomy. It was fun to see the four chambers of the heart and the different sides of the brain and, most importantly, what seems to be a very healthy, beautiful baby.

Thank you God for the blessing. We pray we are the parents you want us to be to Keaton, and that he grows up to be a good, Christian man set on serving you, and you alone!

We can't wait for the first of October, or somewhere in that time frame, to meet our son, Keaton.

We know you can't either!

And the blessing is....

Have a guess? If you guessed this...

You were right!!! We are excited to announce that we have a wonderful, little boy headed our way around Oct. 2! So excited!

Our parents came to town for the big "Revelation Party" as my dad, Bill, liked to call it. And before we revealed, we set up sacks with gifts that revealed the surprise.

We had the table all decorated as well.

The moms and grandmothers open their surprises to find out, "It's a boy!":

The dads show off their goods, "Daddy's Caddy" clothes:
Here we are as they gave us presents, too:

Here's the haul from tonight, and previous purchases from friends and family, including toys and clothes:

It has been a great day of surprises! We are excited to be having a little bundle of blue joy joining us in October.

NO, we don't have a name, yet. But we are working on it. Afterall, we have a few months, right?

Personally, I can't wait. I always wanted a boy first and a girl second, but after September, I just wanted a healthy baby with 10 toes, 10 fingers and a healthy rest of the body. Now, that we know it is a boy, the first thought in my mind was someone to watch after his mommy when I'm not around. Sports also came to mind, and music. However, mostly, I just pray that this healthy baby boy comes to know God and Jesus, and that he grows up to be a good Christian man.

We promise to do everything we can for that to come true, and we know a lot of you will help in that, too.

Now on to finding some boy stuff, painting, decorating, etc.

God, please bless our little bundle of boy!

Drumroll please..... And the baby is....

Your guess is as good as ours... We find out Tuesday, which means you probably will, too.

Leave us a comment and tell us whether you think boy or girl... and tell us why.

Will it be pink? Will it be blue? Leave us a note if you think you have a clue!
